Abstract
Family photos as a readable and analyzable content in terms of the Congnitive Semiotics, and also the study of the Semiotics as a method in order to comprehend how definition in a content is wrought, creates two of the chief basis of the present dissertation. The family photography got renewed as soon as it was taken from the capitalism and the court of the Shah and granted back to the lower class of the society during the authority of Pahlavi Regime. This re with the focus on the cognitive-semiotics-wise investigation of the family photos in Isfahan during the30s and 40s SH Considering the social stratification, qualitative semiotics has been conducted. In this work, by exploring visual sources consisting of 500 family photos, the differences of the family photos of the different social classes in Isfahan have been examined as well as the examination of the social and cultural semiotics and confidences in the pictures. At the end, the results of the current dissertation suggest that the contents and subjects of the family photos of the 30s and 40s SH have been affected experiencing the social classes’ alteration from the top, I e capitalism, to the bottom, I e lower classes. The most significant changes are as follows: the status of the family members, the visual importance of the subject and its abstract, the presentation’s style and its confidences of the discussed social classes.
